I had the opportunity to spend time on The Sisaundra Show where we talked about my journey before foster care, my experiences while I was in the system, and the struggles I faced after.
It wasn’t always easy to open up, but sharing my story matters. So many kids who go through foster care feel like their voices don’t count. Talking about the fear, the confusion, and the pressure to grow up is my way of making sure their reality is seen.
On the show, I shared what it felt like entering foster care at such a young age. I also talked about what happens when the system lets go, and you’re suddenly expected to figure out adulthood on your own. From trying to keep stable housing to learning how to survive financially and emotionally, those years tested me in every way.
But it’s not just about the struggle. It’s about survival, resilience, and the hope that things can get better. Being on The Sisaundra Show reminded me why I continue to tell my story. Every time I share it, someone out there feels less alone. My hope is that by being open about life, I can encourage others to believe that their story isn’t over, no matter where they started.
